OPEN SOURCE COMMITMENT: CodeClove Technologies is dedicated to the WordPress open-source ecosystem. All PHP source code in our plugins and themes is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later (GPL v2+). This document explains how GPL licensing, commercial license keys, automatic updates, and support services operate together.
1. The GNU General Public License (GPL)
In adherence to the WordPress Core licensing philosophy, all PHP code created by CodeClove is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2.0 (or, at your option, any later version). Under the GPL, you are granted the freedom to:
- Run the software for any purpose (commercial, personal, educational, or governmental).
- Study how the program works and adapt it to your specific workflows.
- Redistribute copies of the software source code.
- Improve the program and release your improvements to the public.
2. Commercial License Keys & What They Provide
When you purchase a product from CodeClove, you are purchasing an Active Commercial Service Subscription. Your License Key is a cryptographically signed token that authenticates your website with our licensing server. Your active subscription grants you:
- One-Click Automatic Updates: Seamless background updates, performance improvements, and compatibility releases delivered directly to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Critical Security Patches: Immediate access to hotfixes and zero-day security advisories.
- Priority Technical Support: Direct access to our core engineering team via our priority helpdesk and ticket portal.
- Product Add-ons & Cloud Features: Access to pre-built demo templates, cloud sync modules, and official integration extensions.
3. License Key Tiers & Activation Limits
CodeClove offers transparent tier options to fit single sites, growing businesses, and development agencies:
| License Tier | Production Domain Limit | Staging / Local Limit | Support Scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Site | 1 Live Production Domain | Unlimited Local / Staging | 1 Website Helpdesk Access |
| 5-Site Tier | 5 Live Production Domains | Unlimited Local / Staging | Up to 5 Registered Domains |
| Agency / Unlimited | Unlimited Production Domains | Unlimited Local / Staging | Priority Agency Helpdesk |
4. Unlimited Local & Staging Activations (Developer-Friendly)
We believe developers should never be penalized for testing code properly. The following development environments do NOT count toward your production domain limit:
- Local development domains (
localhost,127.0.0.1,*.local,*.test,*.lndo.site,*.ddev.site). - Recognized staging subdomains (
staging.*,dev.*,test.*,stage.*,sandbox.*). - Temporary staging hosts (e.g., WP Engine staging, Kinsta staging, Flywheel demo domains).
5. License Expiry & What Happens If You Do Not Renew
CodeClove plugins and themes are open source and will NOT stop functioning or self-destruct if your license expires:
- The Code Stays Yours: You can continue to use the installed version of the plugin on your website indefinitely.
- What Stops: Upon license expiration, your website will no longer receive automated one-click updates, new features, compatibility updates for future WordPress/PHP core releases, or access to our technical support helpdesk.
- Security Best Practice: Because WordPress, PHP, and web standards evolve continuously, we strongly recommend keeping an active subscription to ensure ongoing security and compatibility.
6. Prohibited Activities & Key Abuse
While you may modify and study the GPL source code, the following commercial abuses constitute a violation of our Terms of Service and will result in the immediate cancellation of your service subscription without refund:
- Sharing, publishing, or reselling your private License Key on public forums, repositories, torrent sites, or group-buy platforms.
- Creating automated proxy servers designed to redistribute official CodeClove update packages to unauthorized third parties.
- Using our support helpdesk to request custom code development or unapproved modifications outside our published support policy.
7. Disclaimer of Warranty
As provided by the GNU General Public License, because the software is licensed free of royalty for the code itself, there is no warranty for the software to the extent permitted by applicable law. The software is provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied.
